The entry from the findagrave website concerning the grave of Patrick W. Eggleton, buried at the Henry County Alms House, asks for further information on this man.
The record of Patrick's marriage on 2 December 1856 in Henry County to his cousin Mary Matilda Eggleton, daughter of John and Elizabeth C. (Clark) Eggleton, identifies Patrick's father as Stephen Eggleton (Marriage Register, 1856, line 37). Thus he was the fourth of four sons of Stephen and Leanna (Haley) Eggleton of
Henry County. In the Henry County census of 1850 (page 7, family 82), Patrick was the youngest child enumerated in Stephen and Leanna's household, listed as age 10. The 1880 census entry for Patrick shows his birth date as June 1838.
The date of death on both the death certificate and the Henry County Poorhouse Records from the Rangeley Papers, No. 4,625, Southern Historical Collection, U.N.C. Library (typescript at the Bassett Public Library), is July 15, 1914, rather than July 14 as shown on the findagrave entry.
The informant listed on Patrick's death certificate, J.H. Harris, who reported the father's name as George, was not a relative. Perhaps he got the name wrong from confusion
with Patrick's then deceased older brother George.
Patrick's wife Mary apparently died about 1901 and presumably was buried without a tombstone. Her grave and those of Patrick's parents remain unidentified as far as I know.
    Hope some of this helps.
    Regards,
    Fred Eggleston
