    Russell "Cotton" Reynolds, 82, of Chatham, died Saturday, Oct. 25, 2003, at the Danville Regional Medical Center.

    He was born on Dec. 21, 1920, in Pittsylvania County, and was the son of the late Samuel Jackson Reynolds and Lenna Blair Reynolds.

    He was predeceased by his wife, Hilda Wright Reynolds.

    He is survived by one son, Russell Dwight Reynolds of Chatham; one daughter, Elizabeth R. Yeatts of Sandy Level; one brother, Suter D. Reynolds of Chatham; five sisters, Lucille R. Koehler of Cincinnati, Ohio, Emma Sue R. Mayhew of Farmville, Jean R. Goad of Franklin County, Jewel R. Rigney of Franklin County, and Frances R. Rigney of Sandy Level; five grandchildren, Evie R. Moore, Jill A. Reynolds, Stacey Y. Yeatts, Jason Yeatts and Matthew Yeatts and two great-granddaughters, Sierra Duffer and Hanna Moore.

    He was preceded in death by one brother, Harry Reynolds and one sister, Neva R. Reynolds and one grandson, Rusty Yeatts.

    Mr. Reynolds was a retired carpenter and a member of Greenpond Baptist Church and had served on the building committee, and was serving on the pulpit committee. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served in World War II.

    Funeral services were conducted at Greenpond Baptist Church on Tuesday, Oct. 28, at 11 a.m. by the Rev. R. G. Rowland. Burial was at the Greenpond Baptist Church Cemetery.

    Scott Funeral Home of Chatham was in charge of the arrangements.

    Russell married Hilda Wright 19 Jun 1943, Pittsylvania County, Virginia. Hilda (daughter of Louis/Lewis Edward Wright and Elizabeth Maude 'Lizzie' Fuller) was born 17 Feb 1917; died 4 May 1991; was buried , Greenpond Baptist Church Cemetery, Climax, Virginia. [Group Sheet]
