    Sarasota Herald-Tribune (FL) - Tuesday, April 8, 1997

    Dorothy Deal Varner, 78, Palmetto, died April 4, 1997.

    She was born Jan. 24, 1919, in Washington, D.C., and came to Palmetto 15 years ago from Winston-Salem, N.C. She was a former registered nurse at Forsyth Memorial Hospital. She was a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church and the Palmetto Garden Club.

    Survivors include a daughter, Linney T. Reynolds of Palmetto; a brother, William E. Sisson of Wrightsville Beach, N.C.; and three grandchildren.

    A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Episcopal Church. Burial will be in Winston-Salem. Toale Brothers Funeral Home, Bradenton Chapel, is in charge.

    Memorial donations may be made to St. Mary's Episcopal Church, 1010 24th Ave. W., Palmetto, FL 34221.

    Dorothy married Robert Jackson Thomas 28 Jun 1941, St Pauls Episcopal Church Winston-Salem NC. Robert was born 25 Sep 1916, Tennessee; died 5 Mar 1951, Randolph County, North Carolina; was buried , Forsyth Memorial Park Winston-Salem, North Carolina. [Group Sheet]
