Children were Virginia Susannah Bibb born 2 May 1814, married 29 Oct 1829 to John C Cabaness, [cabaniss]; buried in Lagrange Cemetery Fayette Co. Texas; John Halifax, born 12 Jan 1816, married 8 May 1830 to Judith D. Nunnillee [Nunnally] or Menally buried in Lagrange Cemetery Fayette Co. Texas; Elizabeth Cunningham born 23 Dec 1817, married Charles B. Talliaferro 13 Nov 1834; America Bedford, born 14 Feb 1820, married William G. Morton buried Green Hill Cemetery Danville Va.; Louisiana Franklin born 26 June 1822, married Thomas D. Neal; Missouri Ann born 8 Sept 1824, married Robert D. Saunders 17 Aug 1841; Samuel born 19 Mar 1827; Philemon Bibb born 3 July 1829, married 19 Dec 1850 in Pittsylvania Co., Va. to Martha Wilmoth Motley buried at Lagrange; Mary Martha born 10 Jul 1831 Halifax, married Azariah Graves Walters 6 Feb 1856 buried Greenhill Cemetery Danville, Virgina



Named NOT for a previous wife; but a nod to his Sister, Susanna who married John Carter Cabaniss.

THIS INTERPRETATION OF THE NEAL/CARTER BIBLE IS INCORRECT
"The Neal/Carter Bible records Virginia S[usannah] B[ibb] Carter (d/o Samuel Carter and Elizabeth H[olcombe] Bibb, born May 2, 1814) married John C Cabaniss October 22, 1829.

The Bible Notation reads: Virginia S. B. Carter, d/o Samuel Carter and Elizabeth H. Bibb;

Chancery Records prove Samuel Carter who married Elizabeth [Clark] Bibb is the Captain Samuel, the elder of the two men;

Her marriage record identifies her as the d/o William Neal and Martha, his wife. Elizabeth H. Bibb is the widow of a Bibb. Elizabeth Neal is the mother to all of his children; [that is why it is called the NEAL-CARTER Bible] Samuel, 'TK' [Tavern Keeper] married 2nd Elizabeth M. Holcomb 2 years before his death; her will identifies her as the Widow of John H. Holcomb, and names her Holcomb children; she is Elizabeth M. 'Betsy' Carter (nee Cocke), d/o Anderson Cocke and Elizabeth 'Betsy' Michaux. Evidence for everything I have said is shown on this site.
