    T. POLLARD OBITUARY
    DANVILLE, Va. - The Rev. T. Anthony Pollard, 91, of Danville died Sunday, July 24, 2005. Born in Halifax County, he was the son of the late Isaac O. and Lillie Mae Pollard. He is survived by his devoted wife of 68 years, Dorothy Neas Pollard; daughter Patricia P. Terry and husband Michael of Germanton, N.C.; grandchildren Michael Pollard Terry of Germanton, Jennifer T. Gottsegen and husband Adam of Raleigh, N.C.; daughter-in-law Patricia Y. Pollard of Chesapeake; and brother Frank Pollard of Springfield. He was preceded in death by son Stuart F. Pollard; and sisters Margaret Ann Hanky and Rebecca Pollard. A graduate of Lynchburg College and Crozer Theological Seminary, he ministered many congregations in Virginia and served as executive director of Hughes Memorial Home for Children in Danville, chairman of the Pittsylvania County School Board, president of the Virginia School Board, counselor with Danville-Pittsylvania Mental Health Association and was a founder of the Vocational Technical Institute of Pittsylvania County. A longtime Rotarian, he was president of the Danville Rotary Club. He dedicated his life to serving his community and compassionately believed in the worth and potential of every individual. His faith in God was reflected in the love he extended to his family, friends, and to the children of Hughes Home. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 27, at West Main Baptist Church in Danville, with prior public viewing and reception of friends following. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his name may be made to West Main Baptist Church, 450 W. Main St., Danville, VA 24541, or to Danville-Pittsylvania County Community Services, Mental Health Division, 245 Hairston St., Danville, VA 24541.
