Notes |
- Joseph Haines was born in Richard Diamond ship "Amity", Atlantic Ocean. He died on either 9 Sept or 12 Dec 1763 in Nottingham, Chester, Pennsylvania. He was married to Dorothy Leeds on 14 Dec 1704 in Burlington NJ. He was married to Elizabeth Thomas 2 jan 1722. 7 children were born of his first marriage to Dorothy Leeds, and 13 children of his second wife, Elizabeth Thomas. Of the twenty children, 13
reached maturity. Joseph purchased 200 acres of land in Nottingham Twp., Burlington Co. NJ in 1707. He and his wife were granted a certificate of removal by Burlington Co. MM 4/5/1714 so that is most likely that they moved to West Nottingham at that time. He took great interest in the community where he lived, and at one time was justice of peace. He purchased much land: 100 acres in Wolf Harbor, an additional 50 acres of land next to his 200 acres in Nottingham, and he purchased Pleasent Grove, 52 acres of land.

OUR FAMILIES ANCESTRAL ROOTS~
Born on board the ship Amity on the Atlantic Ocean coming to America. Has also been mentioned he may have been living possibly in Burlington County, New Jersey. Married March 1, 1722 in Nottingham, Cecil County, Maryland. He and his wife had a total of thirteen children. No stone must exist, as we have looked through the entire cemetery. The Historical Society mentioned that long ago, they didn't mark the graves. Another FIND A GRAVE member has given this information below.
"Richard Haines and His Descendants" book mentions that Joseph was born in West Nottingham, Chester Co., PA. and later boundries were changed so that area became part of Cecil Co., MD.
