  [S76] Pamela Diann Slayton. My dad, Billy Cecil Slayton is listed as the son of William Henry Slayton and Mary Ann Reynolds Slayton, but he wasn't their biological son even though they raised him from about 16 months until he married. He is the son of Henry's brother Joshua Leonard Slayton and Annie Mae Aaron Slayton. Just thought I'd let you know that. Dad's mom died when he was not quite a year old and as he had five older brothers under the age of 13, Grandpa was overwhelmed by the care of an infant so he "gave" him to his oldest brother to care for. When grandpa remarried several years later they let daddy decide and he wanted to stay with the only papa and mama that he knew although he visited with his brothers in their new home often. All of them have passed away now. Daddy has one half-sister and one sister by heart (Lois Slayton McConnell) still alive. Daddy would be listed as Papa and Granny's son on any census records because he lived almost his whole life with them - how times have changed - you can't just "give" you children away the way you could back then. About my name - my original birth certificate said Pamala Diane Slayton, but mom forgot what she wrote and taught me to spell my name Pamela Diann Slayton. When I realized a few years ago that my birth certificate did not match any of my other legal documents, I had it changed to Pamela Diann Slayton and married my husband and became Pamela Slayton Jones in 1985. Thanks, Pam Joshua Leonard Slayton married Annie Mae Aaron; She died young and Billy Cecil was raised by William Henry Slayton, brother of Joshua.
