THE DAILY BULLETIN, Martinsville, Va., Tues. Afternoon, May 7, 1935, p. 1, col. 3 [edited]. News was received from Huntington, W. Va., that Jack Reynolds, popular local receiver who Friday was sent to the Huntington Club and had been fatally injured when hit by a pitched baseball, during practice yesterday. The blow resulted in a concussion of the brain, producing death several hours later in a Hunting Hospital. Reynolds' parents, Mr. and Mrs. Booker Reynolds, who reside at Callands, about 22 miles east of Martinsville, were notified yesterday morning of the accident. The father immediately left for the West Virginia city, but death came before he could reach the bedside. A brother, Bruce Reynolds, pitcher on the Martinsville team and J. R. English, owner of the local club, were notified yesterday that the injured man had passed away. It is probable that final rites would be held sometime tomorrow from his late home at Callands. The deceased is survived by his wife and an infant daughter; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Booker Reynolds and two brothers, Bruce and Bobbie Reynolds, all of the Callands community.

The paper dated May 8th, p. 2, col. 6, included the following. Funeral services for Russell "Jack" Reynolds, 25, of Callands, a member of the Huntington, W. Va. Club, will be held from the late home at Callands tomorrow afternoon. Burial will follow in the family burial grave yard nearby.
