Mr. Roy Thomas McCubbins Jr, 78, went to be with his Lord on Sunday, Aug. 18, 1996 in Newport News, VA. He was a native of Danville, VA and had been a Peninsula resident since 1942.
Mr. McCubbins retired from the parts department of Suttle Motor Corp. and was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in World War II.
He was a member of North Riverside Baptist Church, where he served on the Board of Deacons.
Survivors include his wife, Pauline Pyron McCubbins; three daughters, Brenda M. Head of Newport News, Donna M. Smith of Columbia, S.C., and Janet M. Presnell of Greensboro, N.C.; one granddaughter, two stepgrandsons and one great-granddaughter.
The funeral services wereconducted on Tuesday, Aug. 20, at North Riverside Baptist Church with Dr. John S. Carpenter Jr., the Rev. David C. Anderson and the Rev. Franklin D. Hall officiating. Burial was in Peninsula Memorial Park.
Arrangements were provided by WJ Smith and Son Funeral Home.
