      THE HENRY BULLETIN, Martinsville, Va., Fri., Sept. 7, 1928, p. 1, col. 2 [edited]. The funeral of G. L. Overton, who died Friday at his home at Sandy River, was held Sunday afternoon from the County Line Christian Church, and interment was in the cemetery nearby. Mr. Overton was 60 years of age. He was born and raised near Chatham. He had lived at Sandy River for 21 years, where he was the owner of a large farm. He is survived by his wife and ten children: Mrs. E. T. Greenstreet, Washington, D.C.; Mrs. H. E. Carter, Chatham; Mrs. Gertrude (?) M. Parks, Winston-Salem; Mrs. George Gravely, Danville; Mrs. W. E. Wilkerson, Bedford; The misses Nellie and Virginia, at home; W. W. Overton, Washington, D.C.; H. C. and G. W. Overton, at home. Three sisters and one brother also survive.
