  Census: 1840 Polk Co MO p 159; Males: 1-1-0-2-0-1; Females: 2-2-1-2-0-1 1850 Polk Co MO book p 62 1860 Polk Co MO book p 8 Lincoln Co TN Deeds: Sold 88 acres to A. T. Oliver 20 Jan 1834. Died in 1862: per Hist. of Hickory, Polk, Cedar, Dade & Barton Cos, MO SLC 977.87 H2h (listing for Richard Beck) This may be questionable as there are court documents which indicate he was alive in 1869. Another source said he died in 1876...not documented. Have copy of a letter he wrote in Mar 1863 when he was a member of the Missouri State Legislature. DOD certainly not in 1862. In Polk Co MO he held the office of County Treasurer; was collector a term; was representative a term; & County Judge for a number of years. He was a Democrat and a member of the Primitive Baptist Church. Kept store in Bolivar MO for 14 years. He was Justice of the Peace in 1849 when he married Clayton S. Devin and Nancy Rebecca Williams. William Robert Devin was one of the first settlers in Marion Township, Polk County, Missouri along with his brother Clayton Devin.
