General Notes: EANES, William Adam Author: Bruce Locke THE HENRY BULLETIN, Fri., May 17, 1929, p. 4, cols. 4 & 5. E. D. Wells, of the Mountain Valley section, is held under bond following an automobile accident in that community Sunday afternoon, and resulted in the death of William Eanes, prominent citizen of that section. Wells, driving an roadster, in company with Eanes and Ossie Ashby, while driving along the highway, skidded off the road, the car striking a tree. Such serious bodily injuries resulted to Eanes, that he lived only a few minutes. He sustained a broken neck and probably a fractured skull. Besides his wife, Eanes is survived by several children. Funeral and burial services were held Monday afternoon at Mount Valley. Preliminary hearing for Wells is set for May 17, here. The notice of his funeral was in the same paper on page 6, col. 1 [edited]. William Andrew Eanes, a well known resident of Greystone, was almost instantly killed in an automobile accident about one mile from here Sunday afternoon. Mr. Eanes was born at Mt. Valley, Nov. 22, 1879, and lived his childhood days at that place. He was he son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Eanes, and is well known through Henry and Pittsylvania counties. He wasn't a member of any church, but lived a useful life, devoting his time and attention to his family, friends and loved ones. He is survived by his wife and six children, three daughters and three sons, five brothers and three sisters. Three daughters are Mrs. Willie Garrett of Danville; Thelma Eanes of Danville, and Annie at home; sons are Andrew of Bassett; Ray and Clay Gravely, at home; brothers are Posey of Dyers Store; Hubert of Georgia; Charlie of Norfolk; Jim and Sam of Martinsville; sisters are Mrs. Tom Eanes, Mrs. John Grant of Mt. Valley, and Mrs. Ben Gravely of Lynchburg. Funeral services were conducted Monday and interment was made in the family cemetery at Mt. Valley. [Reference Paul Martin: AN ALPHABETICAL INDEX TO . . .
