      to me
      Hello Ms. Eggles,

I made a third to fifth cousin match with you on the FTDNA Family Finder. For some reason I cannot bring up your family tree on the computer. I have just finished telephoning the company to complain as this has been happening for months with other matches. Let us hope they can fix it.

My mother's maiden name was Oakes. She was born in 1912 to John Samuel Oakes and Nannie Viola Eanes in Pittsylvania Co. VA. I know the Oakes line fairly well and would like to figure out where we connect. We should have great great grandparents in common.

John was the son of James Harmon Oakes and Susan Haley
James was the son of Thomas Clement Oakes and Althana Harris of North Carolina
Thomas parents were James Washington Oakes and Eveline Oakes who moved from NC to VA and were cousins
James parents: Elliott Oakes and Elizabeth Jane (unsure if Jane is her last name)
Elliot's parents: William H. Oakes and Elizabeth Elliott (I am seeking the name of Elizabeth's parents. They were from King William Co., but settled in Pittsylvania Co after marriage in approximately 1775. Elliot or Ellett is the name of a Scottish Clan.
William H. (I think the middle name is Hailey) parents were John and Rachel Rawlings
John was the son of John and Hannah Ford of York Co. which later became King William Co. He was born circa 1640 in England
John was the son of John Oakes b. c. 1619 and Elizabeth Harrison. The names and location in England of this man's parents are unknown.

I got this information off the internet. But, I am going to order a booklet which I read in the Danville Library from a man in Lynchburg, VA which may tell me more.

Any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated.

      Yours truly,
      Janice Branch Fox
