Obituary for William Wilson Wells, Sr.
William Wilson Wells, Sr., age 84 of 231 James Rd., Danville, VA passed away Friday, February 2, 2018 at his residence. He was born January 7, 1934 in Dry Fork, VA to the late Joel Estes Wells, Sr. and the late Elsie Smith Wells. William was a member of Lively Stones Baptist Church. He was a member of the following organizations; Roman Eagle Masonic Lodge of Masons for 50 years where he served as a past Worshipful Master, board of Roman Eagle Health & Rehab, a member of TPA (Travelers Protective Association) for 50 years where he held various offices, a member of Pochantion Tribe of Redman #124. William worked for Dan River Mills for 48 years where his last position was in the Personnel Office. He proudly served his country as a member of the US Army in Germany.
William is survived by a son, William W. Wells, Jr. of Danville; two daughters, Cynthia Wells and Angela Wells both of Danville; a granddaughter, Christina Jackson of Danville; a former Son-in-law, Marvin Wayne Jackson; a Former wife, Elizabeth Montgomery Wells; a brother Garland Wells and wife Lois of Dry Fork, VA.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by two sisters and a brother.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m., Sunday, February 4, 2018 at Lively Stones Baptist Church, 2347 Chandler Mill Rd., Pelham, NC 27311 with Pastor Michael Kent officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Military honors to be rendered by the Army and Masonic rites to be given by Roman Eagle Masonic Lodge of Masons.
The family will receive friends 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Norris Funeral Services, Inc., West End Chapel, 511 Church Ave., Danville, VA 24541 and other times at the residence 231 James Rd., Danville and at the home of his brother (Garland Wells), 6749 Dry Fork Rd., Dry Fork, VA 24549.
