    • COLEMAN FLETCHER: age 52 years, died at his home about two miles south of here, on Monday, after a very short illness. He was taken sick the day previous with something like nevralgia. Interment this Thursday at Hopewell, Md. (6/11/1896)

COLEMAN FLETCHER: The announcement comes to us of the death, near Colora, Cecil County, on Monday inst. Of J. Coleman Fletcher. Mr. Fletcher was a native of Harford, and about fifty-one years old. He was a son of the late Bennett and Rachel Fletcher, who formerly owned and occupied a farm on Swan creek, near this city. His father has been dead several years, and his mother died about eighteen months ago. The deceased was married twice. His first wife was Miss Mary Touchton, (a sister of Messrs. S. W. and John L. Touchton, of this city,) but she died soon after her marriage. Then Mr. Fletcher and his mother went to Cecil to reside, where he had a brother, Mr. Milton D. Fletcher, and a sister, Mrs. John F. Gilbert. There he married Miss Lavinia Rutter, who survives him, with one child. Mr. Fletcher had been unwell for two or three weeks, with malaria, although his condition was not considered at all serious, but on Monday he was taken with a congestive chill, at the home of his sister, and soon after died. He was buried Thursday, at Hopewell Cemetery, near Rising Sun, Cecil County. The deceased, while well known to many of our residents, will be better remember by strangers and visitors here as the manager, for several years, of Messrs. Coale & Bailey's fcheries, and Mr. Coleman Bailey says that Mr. Fletcher's services were invaluable in the capacity of a fishing-shore manager. (The Republican HDG, 6/13/1896)
