Mrs. Jean Duncan Powell of 1074 Bellevue Road, Halifax, Virginia died Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at Halifax Regional Hospital. She was born in Pulaski County, Virginia August 23, 1935 and was 77 years of age. She was the daughter of the late Walter Clifton Duncan and Lilly Vickers Duncan and was married to the late Addison Bradsher Powell. Mrs. Powell was of the Baptist Faith and attended Ash Avenue Baptist Church, was a member of the American Legion Auxilliary, Post 8 for over 50 years., United Daughters of the Confederacy, and the Woodmen of the World. Mrs. Jean Duncan Powell survived by: Two Daughters Ruth Elaine Yagen & husband Gerald of Virginia Beach Diane Lynn Powell of Kernersville, NC Four Sons Thomas Addison Powell & wife Diane of Port Orchard, WA William Crews Powell & wife Sharon of Roxboro, NC Howard Bradsher Powell of Turbeville Walter Duncan (Wally) Powell & wife Tracey of Halifax One Brother Peyton Duncan & Jane of Radford Eight Grandchildren Nine Great-Grandchildren ***Preceded in death by One Son, Johnny Powell Funeral Services for Mrs. Jean Duncan Powell will be held at Powell Funeral Home, Saturday, July 13, 2013 at 2:00 P. M. with the Rev. Jack Stewart officiating. Burial will follow in Halifax Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday, July 12, 2013 from 7-8:30 P.M. at Powell Funeral Home and other times at the home of Jean Powell.
