Brothers Davidson, William and Jonathan Mann all enlisted in the Confederate Army in 1862. Jonathan was promoted to 2nd Lt on 23 Dec 1862 and later captured at Wise's Forks on 10 Mar 1865 near the end of the war. He was confined at Print Lookout, Maryland on 16 Mar 1865 and served time in Old Capital Prison in Washington DC. He was latered transferred to Ft Delaware on 25 Mar 1865 and released on 17 June 1865. He was made to swear an oath of allegiance to the Union and therefore given a horse to find his way back to North Carolina. His brother Davidson was discharged due to a disability on 24 Feb 1864 and brother William who was also captured decided he would never swear allegiance to the Union and walked from Maryland back to North Carolina as he was refused a horse for not swearing allegiance.
