Notes |
- Idem, dat. March 13, 1746: The name Alexander McClanahan, Col, VA, appears on a record under the following headings: "A list of officers of the Virginia Line on the Continental Establishment who have rec'd. their full pay agreeable to an Act of Assembly passed Nov. Session, 1781", which shows the sum of L 277 S. 10 was rec'd. by himself on April 23, 1783. The collection of Rev. War Records in this office is incomplete, but it is possible that additional information may be obtained from the Librarian, Virginia State Library, Richmond, VA, or from the Archivist, the National Archives, Washington, D.C., who has custody of the U. S. Pension Records covering the period of the Revolutionary War.?

Hi Mary Frances,
Thank you for your reply. I'm working on a currently unpublished tree on Ancestry.com My father did a lot of research before his untimely death in 1989, mostly on our Taylor line.
My ancestor on your site that I can give you more information on is Mary (Polly) McClanahan (8 Feb 1795-4 Apr 1859--buried at McCorkle cemetery, Taylor's Bend, Jefferson County, Tennessee) who married Elisha Moore (1793-1834). Their daughter Sarah Ann Moore (1824-1893) married Parmenas Taylor (1821-1893), and their son Hugh Lawson White Taylor (1852-1928) was my second great-grandfather.
As I said, my father did the most work on the Taylor line, which he traced back from Parmenas (1821-1893) to Willis (1798-1859) to Col. Parmenas (1753-1827) to William (c. 1730-1760) to Aaron (died before 1751) to Lazarus (b. 1667) to the immigrant John Taylor (born about 1627 in England-1702). John Taylor married Alice Gaskins, whose father Thomas Gaskins is included in Adventurers of Purse and Person, Virginia 1607-1624/5 (John Frederick Dorman, ed.).
I don't think we share any DNA, but we definitely share some lines on our family trees!
