I do not know whether this branch is related to the founders of the Methodist Church since I have been unable to go back further than Paul Wesley (b. 1795 in Mt. Carmel, d. 1875 in Halifax Co, VA) to John Wesley and Agnes Agatha Powell (I do have names of others in Agnes's family, but John is a mystery) Paul Wesley married Elizabeth Williamson, and they had 6 children - Clementine, John R, Agnes, Caroline, Charles, and Eliza. All were born in Halifax County, Virginia but several Wesleys in this particular line have lived in Person County, NC so anyone with Wesleys in either county, please get in touch with me. Carter states that Caroline Wesley bore him five children, and his next wife Elizabeth Hill bore him three children during their 10 years of marriage. A third marriage to Laura Petty, a widow, was childless. Named children in this obit are Augustus Carter, Durham, NC. N. B. Carter and W. R. Carter, both of Sutherlin, Percy Carter, Charlotte N. C. and Mus Nancy Loftis of Turbeville, all children of Caroline Wesley Carter; Mrs. William Tulloch and Edward P. Carter Jr. are Elizabeth Hill Carter's children.
