APPHIA SANFORD died at the home of her daughter, ANN S DUERSON, in Spotsylvania in June 1864. Although there is no stone for her in the Rocky Pen Cemetery, one assumes her remains are there with her husband.
APPHIA was a wealthy widow - In 1860 her real estate is worth $3,000, and her personal estate is worth $10,000.

LAWRENCE SANFORD served in the 2nd Virginia Cavalry, Smith's Company in the War of 1812. He also ran a ferry on the Rappahonnock between Stafford and Spotsylvania Counties, Virginia.
In the Registry of Death records in the Stafford County Court Clerk's Office, there is record of the death of LAWRENCE SANFORD in October 1858, age 85 years, white male, cause of death is "natural decline", buried in Stafford; represented by MRS. SANFORD, consort.
