      On the 1860 Roanoke, VA census, I found farmer LUCY Johnston, 43; other Johnstons: married manager John, 26; married Sarah, 27; Emma, 18; Hedassah, 12; James, 14 and Thomas, 8, all VA born. They resided next to the Josiah Johnston (age 56) family.

      On the 1870 Salem, Roanoke Co., VA census, I found farm laborer William Webber, 26 and Lucy Webber, 25; Catherine Webber, 1 and LUCY Johnston, 64, all VA born. They lived between James Johnston, 24, Thomas Johnston, 19 and Dassah Johnston, 22.
