This indenture made and entered into this sixteenth day of January year of Our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Thirty Seven between James H. Powell and Sarah his wife of the County of Callaway and State of Missouri of the one part and Solomon Armstrong of the County of Callaway and State aforesaid of the other part witnesses that the said James H. Powell and Sarah his wife for and in consideration of the sum of Four Hundred and Ten Dollars Thirty Seven and half cents to them in hand paid hereby the receipt where of is hereby acknowledged do hereby grant bargain sell? convey and confirm unto the said Solomon Armstrong, his heirs and assignees forever all that tract or partial of land situated and being in the County of Callaway in the State of Missouri it being the East half of the south east quarter of section three in township forty five of range eleven thus containing eighty acres except ten yards square of that around the grave of Anthony Powell together with all and singular appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any way appertaining to have and to hold the above described premises unto the said Solomon Armstrong his heirs and assignees forever and the said James H. Powell and Sarah his wife the aforesaid premises unto the said Solomon Armstrong his heirs and assignees against the claim ? of all and every person whomsoever do and will warrant and forever defend by those present ? witness whereof the said James H. Powell and Sarah his wife. Party of the first part have hereunto set their hands and seals this day and year first above written.

In History of Calloway County Pub 1884 I found James Holt Bio founder of Holt's Summit and on of the oldest and highly respected citizens of Calloway county, came here with his parents away back in 1820, and was then a youth fourteen years of age. He was the third of a family of ten children of Abner Holt and Elizabeth Brooks, of Halifax County, VA, who were married about the beginning of the pressent century. The other children were Susanna, TImothy, Robbert, John F., William P, Hiram, Abner, Elijah, and Elizabeth Calloway.... In 1806 the year James Holt, the subject of the present sketch was born, his parents removed from Halifax County VA to Tennessee where they lived until 1819 wehn they came to Howard County Mo. Thier intention however was to settle in Callaway Co but as there was little or no settlement here at that time, they stopped in Howard county until they could provide themseves accommodatins ( a house ect) in Calloway County. While the family remained in Howare, durning the winter of 1819-20 the menfolks were busy making a home and preparing fjro a corp in Callaway and the following spring the fmaily came on to their new home.... Mr. Holt, or Uncle Jimmy, as hi is now venerable called, was married in 1833 to Miss Lucy Reynolds, who came to Callaway County in a early day....

Timothy Holt, of Halifax Co VA married Elizabeth Chambers and they had.... Hiram, son of Timothy Holt SR was married twice, his first wife being Jane Stanfield, and hsi second her sister Nancy. He settled in Callaway Co in 1826.,,,
