Today is Halloween, 2014. I spent the afternoon and evening with William David Reynolds and his wife Dorothy 'Dot' Bowles Reynolds. We were instant family and they gave me photographs and stories of their family members and updated the information I had about their families. They live near Greenpond and were so loving and gracious, I must adopt them. -mfe







William David Reynolds of Chatham, passed away on October 24, 2018. He was born to Fannie Reynolds and Raymond Reynolds on September 23, 1927. He lived his entire life on his family farm. He loved spending time worshiping God at Hollywood and Greenpond Baptist churches. He served in the Army during the Korean War as a Staff Sergeant. He was employed at Goodyear for 26 years. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Bowles Reynolds; two daughters, Carolyn Davis and Beverly Darling; two grandsons. He was also predeceased by his two brothers, Elbert & Robert.
Burial will be in Hollywood Baptist Church Cemetery.

Robert Mead Reynolds who married Pauline Adkins, made their home in Greenpond Community, Farmed and had three children. Branda Kay, Ryland Mead, Richard Allen

The records show that one George Smith, born in Pittsylvania County, Virginia, age 17 years, private (2nd) Company C, 46th Regiment Virginia Infantry, (also known as 1st Regiment of Infantry, Wise Legion and as 2nd Regiment Wise Brigade)Confederate States Army, enlisted 15 Dec 1863 at Camp Dismal, South Carolina, (also shown as 16 Dec 1863 at Adams Run, South Carolina). The company muster roll for January and February 1865, dated 28 February 1865, last on file, shows him present and no later record has been found.

Curtis Reynolds is listed here as the son of Luther and with a sister named Bernice who had a twin who died at birth. Curtis ran the Cat and Fiddle Grocery in Danville just this side of Union Street Bridge, which was a really large store. He and his wife lived in Forest Hills. I don't know if you can read the upper right after Ruth Oakes' name (from Portugal)? Grandma Emma always said the Reynolds' were blond with blue eyes until one married a girl from Portugal??
