    Alberta L. Mackie
    Age 93 of Chestertown, MD, formerly of Cecilton, MD, died Friday, November 25, 2005, at Heron Point, Chestertown, MD.

    Mrs. Mackie was born on December 2, 1911 in Snow Hill, MD, daughter of the late George and Edna Webb Littleton. She was a graduate of Salisbury Normal School and began her teaching career in a 1 room school house in Kennedyville, MD. She retired after 20 years with the Cecil County Board of Education teaching elementary education. Mrs. Mackie enjoyed fund raising for charities and politics. Known by her friends as "Bert", she loved playing the piano, music and working with children.

    She was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, F. Reynolds Mackie, in 1971. Mr. Mackie was a former House of Delegates Representative and founder of Mackie's Home Center in Cecilton. She is survived by 3 children and their spouses, Gene and Frances Mackie of Cecilton, MD, Ann and Lynn Widener of Annapolis, MD and Elaine and Paul Bowman of Chestertown, MD; 7 grandchildren, Paula Sauer, Steve Mackie, Chris Widener, David Bowman, Ryan Widener, Erin Bowman and Jeffrey Bowman; and 10 great-grandchildren.

    A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2005, at 1:30 pm at Wesley Hall, Heron Point, 501 E. Campus Ave. Chestertown. A private family burial will be held in Rose Bank Cemetery, Calvert, MD.

    Memorials may be offered to the Union Hospital's Breast Health Center c/o Union Hospital of Cecil County, 106 Bow St. Elkton, MD 21921; or the Hoffberger Breast Center at Mercy Medical Center c/o the Development Office at Mercy Medical Center, 301 St. Paul Place, Baltimore, MD 21202.
