  1. 1.  John Hartwell HinemonJohn Hartwell Hinemon was born 1 Nov 1862, Fayette County, Tennessee; died 22 Dec 1946, Shelby County, Tennessee; was buried , Woodland Heights Cemetery, Clay County, Arkansas.

    Notes:

    His parents were Daniel G. Hinemon and Mary A Stockringer. He attended colleges in NC and TN, receiving a masters from Peabody in Nashville. He married Eugenia A Reynolds Aug. 25, 1885 in Obion County, TN. After teaching in that county he relocated to AR in 1887 and became Supt. of Schools and started a university school in Monticello. In 1895 he became Supt of Schools in Pine Bluff. He was elected president of the AR State Teachers Assoc. in 1897. In 1900 he was Vice President of the Natl. Educ. Assoc. He started two terms as AR State Supt. of Public Instruction in 1902. Hinemon served as the president of Henderson College from 1904-1911 and continued to serve on the Board of Trustees until 1920. As a politically active member of the National and State Democratic Party, he was a delegate to the Democratic National Convention three times. He ran for governor of Arkansas but lost in the primary of 1908. In 1913 he became president of the AR School of the Blind, a post he held for six years. He retired to Rector, Clay County, AR.

    He married a second time to Carlie Strait around 1920. Carlie was the widow of Emmet Peyton.

    John married Eugenia A. Reynolds 25 Aug 1885, Obion, Tennessee. Eugenia (daughter of George Alfred Reynolds and Martha Frances Bufford (nee Sheppard)) was born 7 Jan 1865, Union City, Tennessee; died 1 Jul 1952, Pulaski County, Arkansas; was buried , Oakland and Fraternal Historic Cemetery Park, Pulaski County, Arkansas.
