    Harriett Smith Reynolds, 88, of Wilmington passed away on June 1, 2009. Born in 1920 in Pender County, her parents were the late Thomas and Hattie Watson Smith. Harriett graduated from the James Walker School of Nursing in Wilmington. She served as an officer in the European Theatre of World War II, later continuing her career in nursing at Valley Forge.

    She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Clarence E. Reynolds "Hawkie;" sisters, Margaret S. Burkheimer and Katherine S. Willis and brother, Thomas A. Smith.

    A Memorial Service and inurnment will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2009 at 10:00 AM in the Mausoleum of Greenlawn Memorial Park, officiated by Rev. Dr. Mark Highfill.

    In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Winter Park Presbyterian Church, 4501 Wrightsville Avenue, Wilmington, NC 28403.
