      Holland Pearce Falkner
      Birth unknown
      Death 31 May 1849
      Ripley, Tippah County, Mississippi
      Burial
      Ripley Cemetery
      Ripley, Tippah County, Mississippi

Holland Pearce Falkner was the daughter of Joseph Pearce (b. 24 Apr 1791, Jones Co. NC ? d. ca. 1846, Weakley, Co, TN) and Elizabeth R. Harrison (b. 4 Mar 1804, NC ? d. 22 Jan 1835, Weakley Co., TN). Joseph and Elizabeth were married 15 Nov 1821.
Elizabeth was the daughter of Simmons Harrison (1777-1855) and Holland Spight (1781-1836). Thus Holland Pearce Falkner was related to Simon R. Spight of Ripley through her grandmother Holland Spight Harrison.
The probate records 1847-1848 of Tippah County shows Simon R. Spight as guardian of Holland Pearce, Mary Pearce, Simmons Pearce, Joseph Pearce and Lazarous Pearce. W. C. Falkner and wife Holland R. Pearce Falkner and D. L. Kilgore and wife Mary Pearce Kilgore are listed as petitioners, the two wives being daughters of Joseph Pearce,
Simon R. Spight lived in a two-story home on the present site of Ripley Public Library. The home was sometimes called "Spight's Hotel." It survived the Civil War and burned in 1915 when it was the home of John N. & Frances A. Street.
In July of 1847 W.C. Falkner married Holland Pearce and on September 2, 1848 their son, John Wesley Thompson Falkner was born. Holland Falkner died May 31, 1849. John Wesley Thompson Falkner was then adopted by W.C. Falkner's aunt and uncle, Justinia Word Dickinson Thompson & John Wesley Thompson. The Thompsons are buried at Rucker Cemetery.
On September 2, 1869, John Wesley Thompson Falkner married Sallie Murry, the daughter of Dr. & Mrs. John Y. Murry. Their son, Murry Falkner, married Maud Butler and they became the parents of William Cuthbert Fa(u)lkner, Murry Charles Falkner, John Wesley Thompson Fa(u)lkner III, and Dean Falkner.
So far no record of where Holland Falkner was buried has been found. A marker for her was placed in the Falkner lot at Ripley Cemetery in 2005 by Frances Street Reid.
The assistance of Mr. Pete Crum of Ripley Monument Company is appreciated.
Holland was 17 upon her marriage
