Thank you for contacting me. We know very little about our mom's side of the family. I was poking around on the computer and found some pix. The others looking into this have gotten much farther than I have. First time I had heard of the names you mentioned. I am going to try to send you some pictures. Please let me know if they don't come through, and I will resend them. I would love to know more about the Carter family. My mother's mother died when she was nine, and the children were split up to be raised by different family members, so there were a lot of things that she never knew. We had never seen a picture of our grandmother Hellon until about 12 years ago. I will send you copies of the pictures my mom had, and of the ones I found on the net. It may take more than one e-mail . I'm happy to share anything I find out.
Sincerely, Donna Barnes

to me
Mary, The one photo that says Rev. Columbus A. Neal, was listed that way, and also as James Jackson Carter, so I'm not sure about that one. Also, the one group photo that looks a bit spooky is actually a baptism. The photo of the Carter brothers, James Hulit on the right. Not sure who the others are. Mom said it was his brothers. From what I have found, Rosa Callie Carter was both the daughter of and wife of preachers. At least one of them was from Whitfield County.
