SOPHIA A. ?Wuest? CHARSHA: dies in hospital, following a serious illness of four weeks, Mrs. A. Charsha, 63, of 317, North Eighth Street, died at 6:20 a.m. Sunday at St. Elizabeth Hospital where she had been a patient since April 27. Mrs. Charsha was born in Belleville July 8, 1905, and was a daughter of the late Henry and Annie Wuest, nee Wright. She married Calvin Charsha in Belleville February 27, 1936. Mr. Charsha, a retired Air Force man, died October 17, 1954. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Knapp, 2016 East Belle Street, and Helen, wife of Wilbert Reisbich, 1317 Centreville Avenue; two brothers, Albert Wuest, 1016 North Belt West, and Henry Wuest, 1850 Page Street; a nephew, Donald Knapp, 1018 East B. Street; and three nieces, Jean, wife of Charles Taphorn, 2016 East Belle Street, Sharon, wife of Richard Cahppel, Marquand, Mo.; and Susan, wife of Don Ballenger, Tampa, Fla. A brother and a sister preceded her in death. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Women?s Day Guild of St. Paul United Church of Christ. The funeral will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday from Pete Gaerdner Funeral Home to Valhalla Burial Park with Rev. L. L. Eichenlaub, senior pastor of St. Paul?s officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Monday. American Legion Auxiliary rituals will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. (Belleville News Democrat, 5/5/1969 page two.)
