He could have stayed with his brother Anthony, but it seems more likely he went to Kentucky with his father and returned to visit and perhaps procure supplies. In 1823 a Powell Warren (surely Lucy's son) is buying land in Halifax.

married a 2nd time - The Hull papers state that she was
Polly Carter, widow of William Carter and they married 30
Dec 1811. Polly had a daughter Elizabeth by William Carter.

The Diary of Rev. Elias Dodson states that Timothy Stamps
also married the widow Mary Hobson sometime after 1860, but
she did not survive him.

Timothy Stamps lived next to his brother William & Thomas,
between Ringgold and Sutherlin. Their brother John Jr was
just over the stateline in Caswell Co NC.

All of these Woodies shown on this census are probably misnamed and are Paul Green's Children, except James who I believe is the son of Susan and Charles Woody, except she would have been 14 when she had this child. Not impossible, but not likely.

John Hopson Stamps, born Dec 9, 1812 in Pittsylvania Co., VA.; died Sept. 23, 1891. He married Mary Katherine Wall on Dec 23, 1835 at Cadiz, Kentucky. She was born Nov 8, 1819 in Montgomery Co., Tenn., to Benjamin Braxton Wall and Dinny Faulkner. (Braxton?s genealogy follows in a few pages.) Dinny died Jan. 18, 1893. The Stamps lived in Cadiz as late as April 1841. There is record of a John H. Stamps in the 1840 Census, Trig Co., KY.
