    Wanda Beverley Dovel, age 87, died peacefully in her sleep on April 10, 2018. She was born in Luray, Va., on August 23, 1930, the daughter of John R. Durrette and Mozelda P. Finter.

    She graduated from Luray High School on June 12, 1947.

    On November 23,1950, she married the late Isaac R. Dovel Jr.

    She is survived by a daughter, Karen Dovel Parker and husband Richard, a son, Isaac Michael Dovel and grandchildren David M. Dovel and Amanda C. Dovel, all of Colorado. Also surviving are a sister, Deldee Emerson of Stanley, and nieces Sharon Henry and Cindy Fravel of Luray.

    In 1965, she moved with her children to Gloucester, Va., where she was employed at the Naval Weapons Station in Yorktown, and later at the United States Army Transportation Center at Fort Eustis. She was officially commended in both employments for demonstrating a high degree of competence and ability as an accounting technician in the Programs and Accounting Branch.

    After retiring from the government in 1984 she moved to Denver, Colo., and later settled in Golden. During her 34 years living in Colorado, Wanda traveled throughout the West, exploring the many Indian reservations in the surrounding states and others. A friend from Virginia made lengthy visits to join her in her travels.

    Although Wanda loved traveling, her first love was her family, especially the grandchildren.

    A celebration of life service will be held at a later date in Denver. (Paid Obituary)
