Ellen Agnes Charsha/Malone

Female 1877 - 1928  (50 years)

Generations:      Standard    |    Compact    |    Text    |    Register    |    PDF

Generation: 1

  1. 1.  Ellen Agnes Charsha/Malone was born 11 Feb 1877, Port Deposit, Maryland; died 5 Feb 1928, Baltimore City, Maryland; was buried , Oaklawn Cemetery, Baltimore, Maryland.

    Notes:

Description: Ellen was the daughter of Charles A. Malone and his wife, Anna (Annie Porter). Charles Malone was killed in Nov. 1878 and their oldest daughter, Anna, b. 1875, is found living w/Charles' parents, John W. Malone & wife Margaret Phelps Malone in Port Deposit in the 1880 census. Ellen's infant brother, Charles Albert Malone is found living w/his mother, Anna Porter Malone and her sister Hannah Porter Harris in Port Deposit in 1880. The infant Charles was born after his father's death.
We know that Ellen (Icie) was adopted out to your Charsha family; I cannot locate Anna, but find their brother, Charles A. Malone in Aston, PA in 1910. His death certificate names his parents as Charles Malone & Annie Porter and verifies that he was born in Port Deposit. So, tragically, it seems the 3 Malone children were separated in early childhood.
Anna/Annie Porter Malone completely disappears - she either re-married or died. In either event, she is never found w/any of her 3 children; Ellen/Icie & Charles have been traced; Anna remains missing.
For details of the death of Charles A. Malone, Sr. see the Baltimore Daily News dated November 23, 1878, where it is detailed that his body was found under a railroad bridge with his neck broken. The article goes on to state that he left a wife and two children (Anna & Ellen - son Charles not born until the following February.)
Hopefully you'll find this information helpful. I have also emailed you via FindAGrave. If you'd like additional information on the Malone family, I'd be glad to provide it.
    Best regards,
    Carla Johnson

There aren't any documents to prove one way or the other who Ellen's parents are. Her life was a mystery. I first thought that she was adopted out when her mother died because her father was a railroad man and couldn't care for a small child. I just am not sure one way or the other. There are documents that list her last name as Charsha and Malone. Debbie Reynolds, Kande Charsha
(her direct line) and i have gone over this for that last 13 years and still have not come up with her true parentage.

Born Helen Marie Campbell to Ellen Agnes Charsha and John Campbell. Sister Mary was raised in Baltimore. Maryland. She became a Nun around August of 1924 or 25. She located to Anadarko, Ok. and was at the St. Patrick's Mission and later the St. Patrick's Church from 1956 till her death in 1962.Information obtained from the Archdiocese in Anadarko, Ok. and the Sister's of St. Francis of Philadelphia. Sister Mary's parents, brothers and sister are buried in Oaklawn Cemetery, Baltimore, Maryland. Again, many thanks to everyone for their help.

Also cousin Kande, if not for her I would not have know Helen Marie was a Nun who died in Oklahoma for this is her Charsha Line.
