    James "Jimmy" S. Reynolds of Red House born October 30, 1934, passed away on March 16, 2009. He was the son of the late James S. Reynolds and Annie Jones and is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Lee Reynolds. A native of Red House in Charlotte County, Jimmy served the country for 21 years in the U.S. Air Force. A veteran of two wars, his military tours of duty included 18 months in the Korean War and 12 months in the Vietnam War. Other peacetime military post assignments stationed him in Bryan, Texas, Sacramento, California, Blytheville, Arkansas and Milldenhall, England. In 1973, Jimmy retired from military service and returned to Red House to continue his education and begin a second career as a merchant. He graduated from Southside Virginia Community College, Keysville in 1976 with an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Business. He owned and operated Jimmy's Grocery and General Merchandise Store in Red House for over 25 years before retiring in July 2005. Jimmy was a true patriot and a Virginia Gentleman. He is survived by his son and his wife, James S. Reynolds III and, Rita of Prospect; and daughter Phyllis Reynolds Colley of Red House; five grandchildren; Kristen Lee Reynolds, Lindsey Campbell Reynolds, James "Jake" S. Reynolds, IV, Nicholas W. Colley and wife, Sarah, and Gloria Elizabeth Colley. Jimmy is also survived by his loving sister Betty Anne Petty and a brother Kenneth Wayne Reynolds, both of Red House.

    Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Thursday, March 19, 2009 at Providence Baptist Church by the Rev. Alden Hicks. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Military rites accorded by American Legion Post # 104 and the V.F.W. #9855 combined honor guard.

    The family will receive friends at the residence.
