  1. 1.  Confederate Soldier Andrew Paschal Carter was born 3 Mar 1792, Halifax Co., Virginia; died 10 Jun 1878, Cleveland, Bradley Co., Tennessee; was buried , Fort Hill Cemetery Cleveland, Tennessee.

    Notes:

    Name: Paschal CARTER
    in 1830, Paschal had in his household, 1 boy under 5, 1 age 5 - 10, 1 10-15, one girl 10-15 and one 15-20.
    Paschal was a staunch Confederate as was his son, John. However, his son Fauntleroy was a Unionist. Paschal disinherited Fauntleroy. The families did not speak to each other for years. Paschal was a member of the Masonic Lodge. The Masons drafted his obituary. In 1872, he gave a deposition in support of his sister, Henrietta Carter SMITHSON's application for widow's pension.

    Note: Although he had been a Methodist, his obituary says he belonged to no religious sect or organization.

    On 29 Jan 1791, Presley bought 16 1/2 ac. in Halifax County from William WADDELL for 9 lbs. 15 shillings. Witnesses: Levin CARTER and Nathaniel WADDELL. DB 15, p.137.

    On 19 Apr 1792, Presley bought from Noel WADDELL for 50 lbs. 200 ac. on Toby's Creek bounded by Philip THOMAS and RUSSELL. Not witnessed was presented in court by Noel himself. DB 15, p. 336

    On 3 Jul 1795, Presley CARTER deed to Abner RODING. Witnesses: John ATHERTON, James RODDEN, Frederick MILLER. DB 16, pg. 483.

    On 7 Apr 1805, Presley CARTER, Levin CARTER, Thompson CARTER and Frederick MILLER sold to Spencer CARTER, 100 acres of Richard CARTER's land.
