    John T. Carter is also referenced in the Chancery Cause of Samuel Carter and his wife Elizabeth vs. William F. Scott, Administrator of the Estate of Samuel Scott. It appears that Elizabeth, w/o Samuel Carter is the daughter of Louisa Scott and James Whitehead, Louisa being the d/o Samuel Scott. John T. Carter is mentioned as having sold a 'steer' to Samuel Scott, and William F. Scott having paid the balance of $10.00 not paid by Samuel Scott to John T. Carter. Thomas and Jordan Bigger are also mentioned and give testimony in this Chancery Cause of 361 pages.

    John T. Carter has sold his interest in the land[200 a. gifted to Mary, his mother by her father, John Bigger] in the proceedings mentioned, to Samuel Carter, [his brother] the court doth order that Samuel Carter do take lot No.5 containing 47 acres and 24 poles it being the share to which Jno. T. Carter was entitled and which he sold by deed of Record in the clerks office of this court to Samuel Carter and the court doth adjudge order and decree that the costs of this suit be borne equally by the parties Plaintiffs and Defendants.

    He [John T.] is also guardian to 2 of his siblings. Lemuel and Elizabeth D. are under 21 at the time of his mother's death, circa 1840
