    colonies He boarded either the "Rose" or the "Dartmouth" on
    December 3, 1676, and hey arrived in America, February 11,
    1677.
    EVENT: Residence 1: The original home of the Gentry family
    was in the west end of New Kent on Totopotony Creek.
    EVENT: Comment 1: 1720, In 1720 New Kent was cut in two and
    made Hanover and Loucia Counties.
    EVENT: Comment 1: It has been said that at one time,
    Nicholas Gentry owned the lands on which the University of
    Virginia are now located.

    was abolished The people were aroused by the deprivation of
    their liberty, and
    EVENT: Comment 10: 1676, in 1676 they rallied behind
    Mathaniel Bacon to overthrow the oppressive Berkley regime
    EVENT: Comment 11: 1676, This time to prevent Berkley's
    return, they burned Jamestown to the ground. The colonist
    enjoyed liberty for a short time under Bacon's leadership,
    but he took ill and died.
    EVENT: Comment 12: 1676, The colonist could find no one to
    replace him and Berkley once again regained control. He
    instituted vengeful reprisals against the rebels, hanging
    22 of their leaders.
    EVENT: Comment 13: 1676, King Charles recalled Berkley and
