2] In the name of God, Amen, I Clayton
Devin of the County of Polk and State of Missouri being
in the Seventy sixth year of my age and a very
feeble State of health being con- scious of the
uncertainty of life and Certainty of death at the same
time according to my own apprehensions of Sound
mind and being anxious to make a suitable desposition
of my real and personal estate do make ordain and
delare this to be my last will and testament. 1st
It is my will that after my decease that all my debts
and the expenses of my funeral be paid and
discharged by my executor herein after named and
appointed out of my estate as soon as conveniently
may be I leave the charges of my funeral to the
descretion of my ex- ecutor. 2nd I give devise and
dispose of my estate both real and personal save
what may be necessary for the pay- ment of my just
debts and funeral expenses in the following manner
To wit, I give and bequeath unto [page

personal estate such as money or the proceeds of notes
or stock such as cattle horses and sheep and hogs
house hold and kitchen furniture and farming utensils
to have and enjoy and dispose of as she may think
proper to her own use and benefit during her natural
life after her decease to be disposed of as
hereinafter mentioned together with my personal estate
I give and bequeath unto my said wife the following
described land compris- ing the homestead to wit the
West half of the Southwest quar- ter section So
thirty four (34) and East half of of South West
quarter and South West quarter of NorthWest quarter
and South East quarter of North West quarter

described real estate I desire to be sold or vivided as
herinafter mentioned. 3rd It is my desire that the

dollars. I give and bequest to my daughter Ama S.

daughter Margaret A. Chitty the Sum of five

Orlena Devin Allen
Orlena Devin Allen, 92, of Canyon died Wednesday, May 11,
2005, in Amarillo.
Friends and family will celebrate memories of her at 10:30
a.m. Saturday, May
21, in First United Methodist Church of Dimmitt with the
Rev. Donna Johnston,
associate pastor of First United Methodist Church of
Canyon, officiating.
Arrangements are by Brooks Funeral Directors.
Ms. Allen was born Oct. 10, 1912, in Swisher County. After
graduating from
Tulia High School in 1931, she attended West Texas State
University. In 1940,
she married Louis Allen of Dimmitt, where they shared 40
years of life until
his death in 1981. They were members of First United
Methodist Church. Ms.
Allen later lived at Palo Duro Village Cooperative in
Canyon and was nurtured
in her final months by Hudson House Assisted Living in
Canyon.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two sisters,
Mattie Devin and
Catherine Sprawls; and five brothers, Robert Devin, Lloyd
Devin, Clayton
Devin, Edward Devin and Albert Devin.
Survivors include a daughter, Tommie Almond and husband,
Robert, of
Wilmington, Del.; two granddaughters, Aundrea
Almond-Wallace and husband,
Rodney, of Rotterdam, the Netherlands, and Alyssa Almond of
Wilmington; a
brother, Delbert Devin and wife, Betty, of Tulia; and four
sisters-in-law,
Mildred Devin of Reno, Nev., Margaret Devin of Canyon and
Virginia Devin and
Pat Devin, both of Tulia.
The family suggests memorials be to Meals on Wheels, 2616
13th Ave., Canyon,
TX 79015.

Catherine Sprawls
TULIA - Catherine Sprawls, 86, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2005.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in First United
Methodist Church with the Rev. Rob Lindley, pastor,
officiating. Her body was donated to Texas Tech Medical
School. Arrangements are by Kornerstone Funeral Directors.
Mrs. Sprawls was born March 10, 1918, in Swisher County.
She grew up in Tulia and graduated from Tulia High School.
She graduated from West Texas State in Canyon with a degree
in English and Spanish. She married J.R. Sprawls. She
taught school in New Mexico and Tulia for many years. She
was a member of First United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1953; a sister,
Mattie Devin; and five brothers, Robert Devin, Lloyd Devin,
Clayton Devin, Edward Devin and Albert Devin.
Survivors include a daughter, Lana Carlton and husband,
Jim, of Tulia; a son, Jan R. Sprawls of Tulia; a
granddaughter, Jessica Hatley and husband, Jeremy, of
Lubbock; a brother, Delbert Devin and wife, Betty, of
Tulia; a sister, Lenna Allen of Canyon; and four
sisters-in-law, Mildred Devin of Reno, Nev., Margaret Devin
of Canyon, and Virginia Devin and Pat Devin, both of Tulia.
The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity.
