    Notes:

    Daily Local News
    June 25, 1911

Death terminated the long weeks of suffering of Sarah H. Swayne, wife of Jacob Swayne, of Kennett Square, at 5 o'clock last evening. Advanced in years and afflicted from a broken hip bone and other troubles, during twenty-one weeks, her passing from this life was a longed-for event to the sufferer.

She was a daughter of Isaac and Elizabeth Stubbs, of Lancaster county,, where she was born in 1830. She married Jacob Swayne, of Willowdale, this County, fifty-four years ago, and had lived in Delta, York County; Brick Meting House, Maryland, and in Oxford during her life. Four years ago the couple went to Kennett Square and had since made their home in that place.

Her husband and the following children survive: Enoch P. Swayne, Chadd's Ford; Mary E., wife of Wilmer Cope, Lincoln University; Townsend J., of Camden, N.J.; Emaline D., wife of C. Warren Swayne, of Kennett Square; Calvin I. Swayne, who died several years ago, was a son.

Mrs. Swayne was a member of a large family, two of whom only are now living, and they are Emeline S. Passmore, of West Chester, and Dr. Henry P. Stubbs, of Wilmington, Del. Those who have passed away are Vincent G., Albert, Daniel and Thomas, of Delta, York County, and Dr. Joseph Stubbs, of London Grove, brothers and Mary, a sister, who died in young womanhood.

The life of the deceased was one of service and thoughtfulness for others, and her ministry entered all classes. It is said that in her former home in Maryland there was scarcely a house within a radius of ten miles where her helpfulness had not been known. She was uncomplaining and patient throughout her long illness and had wont the rest of the faithful.
