    Notes:

    CLAREMONT NC - William Ross Epps, 74, of Claremont, died Friday night in a local hospital after and extended illness. Mr. Epps, a self-employed painter, was born March 22, 1908, in Catawba County, a son of the late William Epps and Pearl Moose Epps.

    Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Bethlehem United Methodist Church here, where he was a lifelong member, conducted by the Rev. Raymus Hilliard, with burial in the St. Mark's Lutheran Church Cemetery. The family will be at Drum Funeral Home in Conover from 7-8:30 p.m. tonight.

    Surviving are his wife, Carrie Edith Baker Epps of the home; three sons, William "Butch" Epps of Fayetteville, Lt. Col. James Henry Epps of California, and Danny Epps of Conover; six daughters, Mrs. Joe (Nadine) Setzer of Grass Valley, Calif., Mrs. Shirley Lenna Carter of Largo, Fla., Mrs. Jim (Bonnie) Goebel of Pensacola, Fla., Mrs. George (Brenda) Clark of Clearwater, Fla., Donna Epps of Dunedin, Fla., and Mrs. Jim [Connie] Bedwell of Fla., three brothers, Vernon Epps of Clearwater, Fla., Fred Epps of Dunedin, Fla., and Harold Epps of Conover; five sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Cook of Newton, Mrs. Helen Shatwell of Fla., and Mrs. Ruby Moore of Lanham, Md., Mrs. Lois Hancock of Virginia Beach, Va, and Mrs. Floy Walden of Jacksonville, Fla.; 23 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

    A daughter preceded him in death.
