Walter Marvin Reynolds, 93, of Stella Road, Patrick Springs, died Saturday, May 12, 2001, at the Blue Ridge Rehab Center in Martinsville.
He was born Sept. 5, 1907, in Patrick County, son of the late Tony S. Reynolds and the late Alice Clark Reynolds. Also preceding him in death were a daughter, Mary Louise Handy; a brother, Neil Reynolds; and two sisters, Carlyne Cooper and Edith Cooper.
He was an Army veteran and served in World War II in the South Pacific, where he received three bronze service stars. He worked for Bassett Mirror for 40 years before retiring, and he was a member of Stella Christian Church. In addition, he was remembered by those closest to him as loving to fish, garden and tell stories.
Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Louise Clark Reynolds of the home; one daughter, Hope Via of Critz; one brother, Tony Reynolds of Collinsville; four sisters, Lillian Barbour and Florence Shelton, both of Patrick Springs, Hazel Miles of Fieldale and Mable Clark of Critz; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Stella Christian Church with the Revs. Steve Hayes and Louis Hall officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
