Henry Eanes was the son of Edward Eanes and Jane Sublett (originally the name was Soblet). Jane was a descendant of a Huguenot refugee who settled at Manakintowne south of Richmond on the Huguenot Trail. His cousin and wife Sarah was the daughter of Arthur Eanes and probably Nellie Murray. Arthur's will lists "Eleanor" as his wife, but that could be the formal name for "Nellie." Both Edward and Arthur fought at the Battle at Guilford Court House in 1781. They obviously crossed the Dan River at Boyd's or Irvine's Ferry with General Nathaniel Green.
