Born in Halifax County, VA on February 2, 1928, a daughter of the late Charles Eddie Carter and Lillian Edwards Carter, Mrs. Calvert worked as a Bookkeeper for Wilson Meat Company, Moffett Memorial Baptist Church and Grace Design United Methodist Church. She was an active member of Moffett Memorial Baptist Church and the WMU and was an avid traveler. She was married to the late Robert Henry Calvert. Survivors include a daughter, Cynthia C. Parker (Steve); a son, Robert Thomas Calvert, both of Danville, VA; four sisters, Mary Ellen Goss (Charles), Mildred Wilson, Hilda Nostrandt (Bob), Jane Saunders, four brothers, Thomas W. Carter (Elsie), Charles E. Carter (Excie), Andrew J. Carter (Ruth), and James C. Carter (Margaret); five grandchildren, Laura Johnson (Brantley), Katie Parker, Caleb Calvert, Christine Ravel (Michael), and Carter Calvert ( Amanda); one great-granddaughter, Emma Calvert. She is also survived by her brother-in-laws, Kenneth Calvert (Billie), Matthew O. Nelson, and Al Hill; a sister-in-law, Jeanette Carter, and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by a brother, Aubrey L. Carter Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 24, 2014 at 11:00 AM from Moffett Memorial Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Steve Johnson. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. Cynthia Calvert Parker Cynthia Calvert Parker, 66, of 109 Windsor Trail, died Saturday, August 19, 2017, at her residence after a decline in health for the past two years. Mrs. Parker was born in Danville, Va., on September 9, 1950, a daughter of the late, Robert Henry Calvert and Sarah Carter Calvert. Mrs. Parker was a Teacher in the Danville Public School system and retired after 33 years of service. She was of the Baptist faith, and was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma. On August 5, 1972, she married, Stephen "Steve" Randall Parker, who survives of the residence. Survivors also include two daughters, Laura P. Johnson, and husband, Brantley; Katie Parker; a brother, Bobby Calvert; two grandchildren, Luke and Amelia Johnson; and her two beloved cats, Max and Molly. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel conducted by the Rev. Steve Johnson. Interment will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens.
