    • Letter from Mrs. Ruth Jester Huddleston to Dr. John Roberts Jster, Winston-Salem, N.C.
      Dear Cousin John:
As a great granddaughter of Levi Jester and a great, great granddaughter of William Jester, who was your great grandfather, I am writing to certify some facts concerning the Jester line.
William Jester was born in Scotland and came to America about the middle of the 18th Century, landing in Virginia. He came down through N.C., and then lived for awhile in S. C. In very old age, he came to Georgia with his son, Levi. He died in Georgia about 1826, being buried in what is known as the old Jester burying ground near Griffin, Georgia.
William Jester had two sons, Levi and Thomas. Levi was born in 1760, serving in the Revolutionary army. He came to Georgia from Edgefield Co., S.C., about 1826, bringing his aged Father, William with him, who died shortly after coming to this State. Levi died 17 Jun 1841. The monument at his grave was erected by the William McIntosh Chapter of the D.A.R. of Jackson, Georgia. It was unveiled 20 Jun 1926, 166 years after his birth. One of Levi's Sons was named Henry, who was the fathe rof Ransom Jester, born 20 Nov 1848, and died 5 Jul 1922.
The other son of William Jester viz, Thomas moved to Georgia from Edgefield County, S. C., in 1817 and died about 1821. He was the Father of Thomas Peter Jester, who was born 3 Sep 1809, died 11 Nov 18899. Thomas Peter Jester was the father of Dr. John Roberts Jester, of Winston Salem, N.C., who was the youngest sonof Thomas Peter Jester by his third wife, Martha Frances Roberts.
      Sincerely yours,
Mrs. Ruth Jester Huddleston Ex-Vice Regent Pulaski Chapter D.A.R.- Griffin, Georgia.
