OXFORD - O. Randolph Yancey, age 90, of Oxford, died Friday, November 10, 2006, after an extended illness.
Born in Granville county, he was the son of the late Oscar Yancey and Lillie Puckett Yancey. He was the widower of Mae Powell Yancey, who preceded him in death less than four months ago after 68 years of a loving marriage.
A tobacco farmer, he was a member of Enon Baptist Church, where he served faithfully as a deacon, sexton and groundskeeper for many years. He was a charter member of the Enon Lions Club.
Surviving are daughters, Betty Yancey Mitchell (Marc) of New Freedom, Pa., and Paula Yancey Pittard (Roy) of Butner, N.C.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by a grandson, John Randolph Neely; sisters, Sallie and Alliene; and brothers, Wiley, Sam, Thornton and Erwin.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 12, 2006, at 2 p.m. at the Enon Baptist Church with the Rev. James C. Shelley Jr. and the Rev. Lee R. Pittard III officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will follow in the Community Building following the services. At other times, they will be at the home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Enon Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o of Buck Adcock, 2115 Tommie Daniel Road, Oxford, N.C. 27605.

OXFORD - Mae Powell Yancey, 88, of Oxford, died Friday, July 14, 2006, in Granville Medical Center.
A native of Halifax County, Va., she was the daughter of the late Addison Graves Powell and Bessie Howard Powell. Mrs. Yancey was a former member of Dan river Baptist Church and a member of Enon Baptist Church for over 65 years, actively involved in missions organizations, a former Sunday school teacher and a retired seamstress and homemaker.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday from Enon Baptist Church by the Rev. James C. Shelley Jr. and the Rev. Lee Roy Pittard III. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Surviving are her husband of 68 years, Randolph Yancey; her daughters, Betty Y. Mitchell and husband, Marc, of New London, Pa., and Paula Y. Pittard and husband, Roy, of Butner; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by brothers, Charlie, Bradsher, Hampton, Carrington and Edgar; and a grandson, John Randolph Neely.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Enon Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Stuart Vaughan, 2580 Hwy 158 West, Oxford, N.C. 27565.
The family will receive friends following the graveside service at Enon Baptist Church and other times at the home of Angela and Jason Smith, 2663 Golf Course Road.
