      George Washington Pettyjohn married Ann Taylor "Nancy" Reynolds on May 9, 1825 in Amherst County, Virginia.
      George received a share of his fathers estate, after William died. It was a parcel of the plantation on which the mansion house stood.
      George Pettyjohn took his family to live in Washington County during the Civil War. After the war he returned with his family to his plantation on Harris Creek and the James River.
