Mary Simpson was married to a Mr. Simpson who owned the grocery store in which Caleb Reynolds worked. Mr. Simpson died and Caleb married the widow Simpson. He also got the grocery store. The Simpson sisters are listed in Caleb's Will as his Step-Daughters.
