      Berryman Said to have married Anne Pritchard, the daughter of Anthony Pritchard, a Quaker. He is said to have met and married her at Valley Forge. She was thrown from her horse and her leg was broken and she was lame the balance of her life. Issue: Anthony Green; Ann Pritchard Green who married a Mr. Barksdale and went to Ohio; from them, General Barksdale of Confederate Army descended; Hulda Green married Col. James Thompson of Halifax, Va.; Lucy Green married Stephen Davenport and Hannah Green, who died single. After the death of Ann Pritchard, Berryman Green moved to Halifax Co., VA and married 6 Jan 1789, Nancy Terry, d/o Nathaniel Terry, who was appointed by Gov. Dinwiddie 6 May 1752, presiding justice and first sheriff of Halifax Co., and who represented Halifax Co., in the House of Burgesses from 1758-1769, then from 1769 - 1775. Also a member of the Convention of 1775 and 1776. Nathaniel Terry's wife was Sarah Royall. He died 21 Apr 1780.

      Thomas Jefferson Green (my Grandfather) married Frances Keeling Burton, d/o James Minge Burton and Elizabeth Ridley, at Chapel Hill, NC 5 Oct 1818, while he was a student at that College. He was a member of the famous class with James K. Polk, Bishop Green and others. By this marriage, was born: 1. Sarah Elizabeth, b. 2 Jul 1819, married Dr. Leander Faulkner, 14 Jan 1846. 2. John Burton Green b. 10 Sep 1820. 3. James Minge Green, born 23 Feb 1822. 4. Frances Keeling, born 23 Mar 1824, married Dr. Isaac Coles 7 May 1840. 5 Berryman Green, born 15 Sep 1825 died an infant. 6. Thomas Jefferson Green, b 4 Mar 1827. 7.       "Action of the Halifax Bar"
      At a meeting of the members of the bar of Halifax, held in the courthouse of the said county on the 24th day of July, 1871, to take measures to pay proper respect to the memory of the late Judge William Leigh and Thomas Jefferson Green.
      The ourt, Judge Coles of Pittsylvania presiding, adjourned for the purpose.
      Col. Elisha Barksale, Jr., was, on motion, called to the chair, and James D. Clay, Esq., the clerk, requested to act as secretary.
      The Chairman, on motion, appointed Messrs. henry Edmunds, Wood Bouldin, Jr., C. E. Dabney, John A. Logan and E. J. Huges, a committee to prepare suitable resolutions, commemorative of the deceased.
      On taking the chair, col. Barksdale addressed the meeting, and pronounced a touching eulogy upon the talens and eminent services of the deceased. He was followe by several members of the bar, who paid like tributes to their memory.
      The meeting then adjourned until tomorrow to allow the committee to prepare the resolution.
      At an adjourned meeting on the 25th July the committee, through their chairman, Henry Edmunds, Esq., present the following preamble and resolutions, which were unanimously adopted.
      Whereas the bar and people of Halifax county suddenly have been called upon to mourn the loss of two of their most distinguished citizens, Judge William Leigh and Mr. Thomas J. Green, and whereas it is alike their privilege and duty to express in some authentic and lasting form their high appreciation of the virtues and abilities of the deceased and their profound sense of the irreparable void left in the community by their dethj, it is therefore resolved He was buried on 22 July 1871 at St. John's Cemetery in ,Halifax, VA. data from Thomas J.       Frances Keeling Burton was born at "Nine Oaks" in N.C., the daughter of James Minge Burton and Elizabeth née Ridley, She married Thomas J. Green at Chapel Hill in 1818. They had issue, according to W.J. Carrrington's History of Halifax County (1924):

      Carrington also tells a harrowing tale of Frances Green seeking refuge in a cave during Nat Turner's Rebellion nearby, hidden by Dick, a sympathetic enslaved person held by her husband.
