Do we know for certain the dates of birth of the children of Josiah and Jane Flippen Walton? I have seen the following on the internet:
1. William Scott WALTON (b. 1771 Cumberland Co., VA) m/ Sally WOMACK.
2. Polly WALTON (b. 4 Jun 1772)
3. Jesse WALTON (b. 1774) m/ Joanna Lawson HOBSON.
4. Josiah S. WALTON (Sr.) (b. 1776 Cumberland Co., VA) m/ Nancy WOODFIN.
Do we know a date of marriage for David Carter and Jane Flippen Walton?
If 1776 is a correct birth date for Josiah S. Walton and David Carter's marriage to Jane Walton is after 1776, I again will have a problem (beyond the DNA issue), as the birth date of John Carter is confirmed in documents handwritten by his son as March 25, 1775.

Those are the dates shown in Wilmer Kerns' book "Waltons of Old Virginia", with a documented disagreement between two sources as to the birth year of Jesse as 1773 or 1774. I have found the Kerns book to be very reliable.
I don't get the problem introduced by the birth date for John Carter.
