Quaker; origins obscure, possibly Irish, probably born in or before 1680 (no age information has yet been discovered); modern D.N.A. evidence indicates an ancestral link to the PIGOTT family of Broxton or Butley, Cheshire, of which a junior branch was established in Chetwynd, Co Salop, ca 1430, &/or their junior branch which was established in Queen's County, Ireland, ca 1558. No mention has yet been found of John PIGGOTT in American Quaker records prior to his 1st marriage, at Concord Monthly Meeting, Chester Co, PA, 13 [2 Mo] Apr 1705, to Rebecca HARDIMAN (widow of Abraham HARDIMAN & before him of John WILSFORD, and daughter of Henry BAKER [his memorial 65136085] by Margaret HARDIMAN). John & Rebecca moved to Duck Creek, Kent Co, DE, before 18 Mar 1709; they had issue: 1. Mary PIGGOTT, b New Garden MM, 2 [6 Mo] Aug 1706; poss marr WILLIAMS. 2.
