LEAVES LARGE ESTATE.

Survived by Four Daughters and Two Sons.
-------
Mr. A. L. Carter, a prominent citizen of the county, died Sunday afternoon at the home of his son, Bird Carter, in Pembroke, after a long illness, of a complication of diseases. He was 72 years old and a native of Virginia, but came to Kentucky when a young man and had since lived in Christian County. Mr. Carter had been in bad health for about five years, but was only confined to his bed three weeks. He is survived by six children. They are Bird Carter and Mrs. A. O. Dority, of Pembroke; Mrs. H. C. McGehee, of Gracey; Mrs. L. A. Summers and Mrs. Geo. Broaddus, of the county, and Sam Carter, of Washington, D. C. Mr. Carter's wife died about six years ago.
The deceased was a member of Locust Grove Baptist Church. He was engaged in farming for many years and leaves an estate worth probably $75,000.
Funeral services were held from the residence yesterday afternoon and the remains were brought here and interred in Hopewell cemetery.
